Chandler pushed this pretty hard. He seemed a bit concerned that we were punks. Probably fair enough.
- You can be a jerk. Imply that that the reason you want to plant a church is that you think that everyone else’s ministry is no good. Imply that the generation before you knows nothing. Don’t be thankful. Burn bridges; you’ll never need them anyway. OR…
- You can honour what has gone before while you push onto what is ahead. Realise that it is the ministry of the previous generations that has brought your generation up. Thank your leaders for their investment in you. Positively explain what you want to do, and invite their support. Honour them with your words whenever you can. Don’t get involved in denomination bashing.
Good advice? I think so.
